Telescopes

There are a wide variety of telescopes used in neurological procedures. Usually, telescopes used in surgical procedures are connected to a camera and monitor. One incision is used for the telescope and one or two others are created for the instruments to be used. Compared to an open surgery that involves larger incisions, a surgery that involves an arthroscope (small telescope) is less painful, carries less risk of an infection, and enables the individual to recover more quickly.

In the case of brain surgery, different instruments may be used such as the VITOM, launched by KARL STORZ. The video telescope operating monitor (VITOM) is an alternative to the operating microscope in spine surgery. It makes for a unique visualization system. The advantages over traditional methods are the exceptional image quality for display and recording. For teaching and training purposes, people can easily view the surgical field without it being obstructed by surgeons or other assistants. The VITOM can be introduced into the operating field with minimal interference in a procedure. These attributes combined makes the VITOM both convenient, and powerful.

Medical Device Store currently offers an array of arthroscopes and operating telescopes. They are all made from genuine OEM stainless steel from KARL STORZ.
